The Women’s Economic Development NETWORK (“the NETWORK”), a Bloomberg Philanthropies initiative hosted by Panorama Global, is a global network of nonprofit organizations. The NETWORK’s goal is to increase impact and reach by connecting grantee organizations to share best practices, establishing strategic partnerships and providing capacity support to the organizations’ leaders working to advance women’s economic independence around the world.
Position Summary
The Chief of Staff position is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a startup environment, loves creative problem solving and believes that changing lives, communities or the world is possible and can be supported through strategic investments. Working closely with the Executive Director, Women’s Economic Development NETWORK, the Chief of Staff will support the development of strategy, infrastructure and programming of the NETWORK. They will be an important liaison between Panorama Global and Bloomberg Philanthropies throughout the course of the development of the NETWORK.The Chief of Staff will serve as a key team member with an approach that is highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
This position reports to the Executive Director of the Women’s Economic Development NETWORK (“Executive Director”). and is based in New York City in a hybrid arrangement (in-person and virtual). This is an exempt, full-time role that is at-will and grant-funded.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The Chief of Staff (CoS):
- Plays a pivotal role within the Women’s Economic Development NETWORK (WEDN) providing essential support to the Executive Director.
- Will provide day to day management and oversight of the WED portfolio team.
- Serves as a liaison for the Executive Director, other team members and collaborators both at Bloomberg Philanthropies and within Panorama Global.
- Supports the daily ongoing operations of the NETWORK including grants management, project coordination and budget management.
- Keeps projects of the Executive Director on-point, on-schedule and of high-quality; the CoS provides guidance and removes hurdles.
- Support strategy and planning through research and preparation, data collection and presentation, articulating clear processes and timelines, budget analysis, engagement of key stakeholders, socializing processes, and follow-up.
- Supports the Executive Director through managing various administrative tasks including:
- Calendar Management
- Booking Travel
- Expense Management
- As needed, represents the WED portfolio’s goals and activities to both internal and external stakeholders.
General Program Support
- Contributes to NETWORK program strategy.
- Conduct research and analysis.
- Develop briefing and updates for Executive Director on progress and key policy developments.
- Travel for site visits and partner meetings when needed.
- Support the development of an annual convening and conference plans.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, or equivalent through work experience.
- Exceptional organizational and management skills with the ability to independently coordinate and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to frame issues and communicate technical, budgetary, and program details to key stakeholders.
- Confidence to ask pertinent questions and grasp concepts quickly and think beyond specific tasks.
- Superb interpersonal skills, with a comfort working across diverse teams, relating to senior leaders, and using good judgement to resolve issues.
- Able to work in a startup environment with complex reporting lines to other organizations and donors.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- An ability to handle time efficiently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible, open, positive, and collaborative personality and ability to learn and develop new skills on the job.
- Ability to collaborate closely with executives to:
- Develop strategy and seek opportunities for deep collaboration and joint ventures,
- Identify, establish, and leverage opportunities to advance the NETWORK’s mission,
- Support development of annual priorities and targets that deliver consistent progress towards long-term visions and planning for the Women’s Economic Development NETWORK.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Progressive work experience supporting executive leaders in development and execution of effective systems and programs.
- Additional language proficiencies welcomed.
- Experience working in philanthropy, non profit and/or start up.

Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary for this role is between $95,000 and $110,000. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors: candidate skill and experience; room for growth within the band; and internal equity across the team.
