Position Summary

The Director of Development and Marketing is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for driving Panoramas visibility, engagement, and revenue growth. This role leads strategic marketing, communications, business development, and partnership efforts to support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.  

This exempt, full-time position reports to the Chief Impact Officer and is based in Seattle. This position will be expected to work in our Seattle office on a hybrid basis. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business Development and Fundraising (40%) 

  • Cultivate and develop relationships across sectors with foundations, individual donors, and corporate partners. 

  • Develop and execute key business development strategies. 

  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and partnership strategies. 

  • Oversee donor management system (CRM), ensuring accurate tracking, acknowledgment, and reporting. 

  • Collaborate with the CEO, CIO and other organization leaders to support business development goals and campaigns. 

Marketing & Communications (40%) 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to enhance the organization’s brand, visibility, and drive engagement across all channels (digital, print, media, events). 

  • Oversee content creation and storytelling for newsletters, social media, website, press releases, and campaigns. 

  • Manage the organization’s digital presence, including Panorama’s multiple websites, bulk email communications, and social platforms. 

  • Ensure all communications are mission-aligned and reinforce Panorama’s values and voice. 

Leadership & Collaboration (10%) 

  • Supervise staff and external agencies. 

  • Work closely with program and finance teams to align business development and marketing with organizational goals and budget needs. 

  • Provide regular reports and updates to CIO, CEO and Board. 

  • Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and community gatherings.

  • Provide required timely and accurate recording of data and other information via Harvest, Salesforce, Lattice, SharePoint, and Certify. 

  • Serve on the Panorama Leadership Team and provide strategic thought partnership to fellow senior leaders. 

  • Participate in critical elements of institutional decision-making and provide strategic vision at the leadership level. 

  • Contribute to Panorama’s ongoing evolution and growth as a platform for social change. 

  • Cultivate a high-performing team by prioritizing collective success, team development, clear expectation setting, and regular performance assessment. 

  • Develop a long-term vision and key performance indicators for your team to ensure that work aligns with and facilitates Panorama’s mission. 

  • Participate in and actively contribute to internal Learning & Development opportunities, including People Managers training sessions. 

Typical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master’s preferred). 

  • 10+ years of experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and/or development. 

  • Proven track record in fundraising, donor engagement, and communications strategy. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational abilities. 

  • Proficient in digital marketing tools and donor CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce). 

  • Experience in developing and leading teams to execute both external and internal communications strategies.  

  • Proven skills in strategy development and relationship management. 

  • Strong writing, storytelling, and presentation skills. 

  • Track record of innovative thinking and using sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.

Compensation & Benefits
This position is exempt with a starting salary between $140,000.00 - $150,000.00. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors: candidate skills and experience; room for growth within the band; and internal equity across the team.
