Position Summary    
 

Panorama serves as the implementing partner for The Multilateral Partnership for Organizing, Worker Empowerment, and Rights (M-POWER), a global initiative that unites governments, unions, labor academics, civil society organizations, and philanthropic organizations committed to working in partnership to uphold and promote worker empowerment and rights. M-POWER operates on Panorama’s platform, leveraging our full suite of services for the coalition’s operational, administrative, and strategic needs 
 

M-POWER strengthens workplace democracy globally by supporting worker rights and empowerment through program and policy interventions that 1) improve the enabling environment for free exercise of worker voice, association, and participation; 2) expand opportunities for worker voice engagement in social dialogue and policy discussions; and 3) uphold and advance workers’ fundamental rights, as defined in the International Labour Organization’s Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.   


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Implementation and Partner Support (IPS) Officer will serve as a key Secretariat member at the operational level and in ensuring the M-POWER partners receive the support, practical information, and guidance to meet the expectations of M-POWER. 


This person must possess a thorough and demonstrated understanding in implementing development projects related to trade and human rights, labor rights, or similar theme(s); in supporting organizations in the effective implementation of projects; in coordinating complex projects involving partners from diverse disciplines; and in developing operational policies and protocols that deliver results.  The IPS Officer will serve as an important support officer to the Executive Director and co-chair.   

 
This position is an exempt, limited-term role with an anticipated end date of August 10, 2024. This position is available on a fully remote basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities      
   
The IPS Officer is responsible to develop activities, outreach, engagement, and forums (in-person and virtual) for M-POWER partners to assist them in meeting expectations. They will lead coordination and efforts to involve partners in the governance, advisory, and program priorities elements of M-POWER.   

They, in coordination with the Executive Director, will develop operational procedures and protocols, proposals/discussion papers for Steering Committee consideration; and ensure that M-POWER has current and accurate information on supported programs, activities, and other relevant matters related to meeting its vision and goals and goals. 


 

  • Manage the day-to-day relationships and communications with M-POWER partners.  

  • Manage relations, strategy and engagement with relevant stakeholders including governments, trade unions and civil society organizations, academics, and international institutions.  

  • Represent M-POWER at international events, policy forums, and with the media, as appropriate, to build wide support for M-POWER.  

  • Manage, refine, and implement, with the Executive Director, the communications and external partner engagement and strategy. 

  • Manage M-POWER’s commitment to transparency and accountability by supporting appropriate public reporting. 

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures as may be required to ensure effective governance and implementation of M-POWER. 

  • Encourage and support collaboration between all partners to support effective M-POWER implementation. 

  • Monitor implementation of partner expectations and develop support strategies for effective M-POWER implementation. 

  • Support the Secretariat staff in managing relations, communications, strategy and engagement with existing and future partners. 

  • Support the Executive Director and other Secretariat staff with draft website content, social media interface, press statements, policies and other documents as needed. 

  • Manage coordination of partner events including development of event budgets. 

  • Other related duties as delegated by the Executive Director. 

 
   

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      
   

  • An understanding of worker issues, trade unions, and labor rights in supply chains and public sector. 

  • A track record of managing impactful development programs or similar multi-faceted initiatives. 

  • The ability to engage effectively with and motivate a diverse partner base. 

  • International experience, at a high-mid to senior level, in a relevant organization or initiative. 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher 

  • At least 7 years professional experience, including a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience  


Candidates should have proven track record in leadership and demonstrated capacities in the following areas: 

  • Experience in successfully managing labor, human rights, or similarly related development programs. 

  • Ability to develop standard operating procedures, implementation policies, and concept papers related to multiple partner/organization collaborative development or advocacy initiatives.  

  • Ability to support, coordinate, or facilitate the work of topic specific working groups, advisory groups, or similar types of tasked committees. 

  • Experience in developing audience appropriate outreach, informational, or training materials and associated delivery programs in systems. 

  • Perseverance, follow through, and the ability to motivate partners’ to be active and honor expectations. 

  • Comprehensive skills in organizing various types of convening events and forums. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Language skills: excellent level of verbal and written English, other languages an asset. 

  • Management and delegation skills and sound judgment. 

  • Fiduciary competence and responsibility in managing organizational funds and resources.  

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to work through conflicts associated with a diversity of organizations and opinions.

Compensation & Benefits     

The starting salary for this role is between $90,000 and $105,000 for US candidates. For non-US candidates, please note that a competitive salary range will be offered based on geographical location.

When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors: candidate skill and experience; room for growth within the band; and internal equity across the team.
